📷 A few tips for a beautiful photo of your animal

Pick a calm moment and use a treat. Never force it, stop if they are not happy.
Daylight, no flash. Flash creates a glare on the eye and can scare them.
Use macro mode and get close (about 10 cm) at eye level. Tap on the eye to focus.
Take many photos (burst or a short video) and keep the sharpest one.
Cats, dogs, horses… any animal works if you can get a sharp close-up of the eye.

Use your phone's macro mode

Macro lets your camera focus on very small things up close, which is exactly what an iris is. Look for the little flower icon in your camera app: it appears when you get close. Recent iPhones switch to macro by themselves, and many Android phones have a Macro option in the camera menu. No macro? Use the 2x zoom and step back a little: the eye stays sharp.

1 · Find the lightStand by a window in daylight, not in direct sun. Switch the flash off: it makes a white glare on the eye.
2 · Switch to macro and get closeUse the main camera in macro mode (the flower icon), about 8 to 10 cm away. Keep the eye fully open and look at the lens.
3 · Tap on the irisTap the screen where the colour is so the phone focuses there. Rest your elbows on a table to stay steady.
4 · Take many photosUse burst mode, the volume button or the timer, then keep the sharpest one. Wipe the lens first.
5 · Check, then uploadThe iris should fill most of the picture, sharp, with no reflection or eyelid over it. Then upload it on your piece's page.
